Ben Day - Co Founder & Instructor of Woodsman Bushcraft
For the last 6 years Ben has been working within the environmental sector. Working closely with community groups to manage woodland and open spaces
“I have always had a special affinity with nature (I was the child in the woods tracking foxes and badgers with jam sarnies in hand) I slowly moved away from time spent outside as we do when we grow older and fell into a job which had me driving around the South East of England six days a week, but after a bout of sickness 7 years ago I decided to change everything and set myself up on a path to starting Woodsman Bushcraft. This involved a 2 year apprenticeship in Horticulture, once complete I then broadened my learning with John Rhyders Woodcraft School which strengthened my passion for outdoor learning. The bushcraft I had learnt as an early teen had been restored and reinforced with a much deeper understanding. Once I had completed the Level 4 in Applied bushcraft the next step was starting Woodsman Bushcraft with Barry.”
Ben volunteers for his local canoe club coaching 1 star courses on the river Medway “The best part by far is watching the students become more comfortable in the boat as the weeks go on, growing with every week .”
