Data Protection Privacy Notice

Under the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018 , Woodsman Bushcraft is a data controller, as we need to collect and store sensitive information about  our customers, volunteers and visitors in regards to  the running of Bushcraft classes, this includes maintaining safety, meeting legal obligations, recording successes, maintaining a customer base and promotion.

As a Data Controller, we must comply with this legislation which governs the collection, recording and storage, use and disclosure of personal data whether electronic or manually.

We hold records which include but not limited to:

Participant Records which includes name, date of birth, email, address, telephone number, courses attended and photo for recollection.

Financial Records which includes records of payments made and outstanding payments.

Photographic Data which includes photos for recollection and photos of participation in classes for nostalgia and promotion purposes. We can not control 3rd party photographs nor photos being republished by others.

The information we collect is provided by the participant through the booking progress and subsequent forms and communication.

We store data manually during our classes and for a short time after, data is then stored or archived electronically on a secure shared drive. Access to this data is limited to Woodsman Bushcraft and its employees, data may be shared to 3rd parties for purposes of insurance, safety or legal obligations including safeguarding and for the legitimate business needs of Woodsman Bushcraft. Photographs where consent is gained through a photo permission form may be shared publicly and used for advertising and promotion.

We keep certain types of information for different periods of time;

Accidents and incidents records including participant records , medical information  are kept for 25 years.

Complaints for up to 7 years.

Photographs are kept indefinitely and with consent maybe accessible in the public domain.

Website data & Cookies Users should also be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected through the standard operation of Woodsman Bushcraft web servers, and by the use of cookies technology and/or Internet Protocol (“IP”) address tracking. Non-personal identification information might include the browser used by you, the type of computer, the operating systems, the Internet service providers, and other similar information. Woodsman Bushcraft web server also automatically gathers information about the top viewed and visited pages and links on our website, top entry and exit points, time spent on pages, top downloads, top keywords used offsite to lead customers to our website, your internet protocol (IP) address, information collected via cookies, the areas you visit on the website, the links you may select from within the website to other external websites and device event information such as system activity, crashes, hardware settings, browser type etc. Most browsers are set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent; however, if you disable cookies, the full functionality of Woodsman Bushcraft website may not be available to you. The information thus collected enables us to develop and customise our services better to meet your needs and preferences, and to bring to your attention to services, events and networking opportunities. The processing of the User Customer Data may take place within the territory of the European Union, Israel or a third country, territory, or one or more specified sectors within that third country, of which, the European Commission has decided that it ensures an adequate level of protection (transfer on the basis of an adequacy decision).

As a Data Subject, you have the right to object to how we process your personal information. You also have the right to access, correct, sometimes delete and restrict the personal information we use. In addition, you have a right to complain to us and to the Information Commissioner’s Office (

●The right to be informed – You have a right to know how your data will be used by us.

●The right to access your personal data – you can ask us to share with you the data we have about you. This is a Data Subject Access Request.

●The right to rectification – this just means you can update your data if it’s inaccurate or if something is missing.

●The right to erasure – this means that you have the right to request that we delete any personal data we have about you. There are some exceptions, for example, some information will be held by Woodsman Bushcraft for legal reasons.

●The right to restrict processing – if you think that we are not processing your data in line with this privacy notice then you have the right to restrict any further use of that data until the issue is resolved.

●The right to data portability – this means that if you ask us, we will have to share your data with you in a way that can be read digitally – such as a pdf. This makes it easier to share information with others.

●The right to object – you can object to the ways your data is being used.

●Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling – this protects you in cases where decision are being made about you based entirely on automated processes rather than human input, it’s highly unlikely that this will be used by us.
